Cave City, Kentucky

Our Story

We're Jeff and Andrea, and we raise a small number of pasture-raised chickens each year on our property outside Cave City, Kentucky. We got into farming the way a lot of people do — we wanted to know where our food came from.

What started as a handful of birds for ourselves has turned into something we love sharing with neighbors and friends. Twice a year — spring and fall — we raise a batch, process them fresh, and make them available for pickup right here at the farm.

How we raise our birds

Our chickens spend their days outdoors on pasture, moved to fresh ground regularly. They're not raised in confinement. They eat bugs, scratch in the dirt, and live the way chickens are supposed to live. We supplement with non-GMO feed and closely manage their daily routine, which translates to healthy, beautiful birds with better flavor and texture than you'll ever find at a grocery store.

We process on-site and freeze the birds immediately after processing. You pick them up at the farm, usually the day they've been processed. You can't get fresher chicken than that.

Why we keep it small

We're not trying to be a big operation. We raise what we can do well — 40 to 60 birds per batch — so we can give each one proper attention. Small means we can be hands-on, honest about what we're doing, and accountable to the people who buy from us.

We name our batches after popular military names — Admiral Akbar, Lieutenant Dan — and we post updates on Facebook as the batch grows so you can follow along.

Our Philosophy

God intended us to work together as a people. To promote the good, the beautiful, and the true. We believe that raising our animals to respect their purpose - honoring the "Chickenness of the Chicken" and the "Goatness of the Goat" is what we are all called to do.

We don't hide behind fences. We don't conceal our operation like many of the larger companies do. It's here. We want you to see it, to be involved. Come and visit us sometime, and bring the family! Knowing your farmer is the best way to know where your food comes from.
